An item lingers on your to do list. It’s been there for days and it’s not going away. You need to get it done, but you can’t figure out how to start.
What do you do when you have trouble diving in on a project?

Here are three tips that help me get going to get it done:
1. Break it into chunks. Looking at the whole is too overwhelming at times. Especially during pandemic days, large projects that were once approachable may feel daunting. Make project A into task 1, task 2, and task 3. Suddenly, it’s less scary.
2. Look at it from another angle. If you planned on one way forward and it hasn’t happened yet, consider another path. If you imagined it taking shape in a certain manner and it doesn’t inspire you, try something else. Bounce ideas off a colleague or friend. Ask yourself questions about the problem you’re trying to solve. Talk it through, write it out! It may be exactly what you need to go forward.
3. Move your body to move your mind. Get up, stretch, do a dance, or get outside. Whatever works for you, whatever makes you feel good, is what counts here. Get your creative juices flowing, bring ideas forward, and feel rejuvenated.
✅ The most important thing: try something!
✅ Try again!
✅ Cross it off!
